Egyptian government donates generator to R-TNLA

The Egyptian government has donated a generator to provide power to the South Sudan parliament.

A MegaWatt generator was received by the Speaker of the Revitalized Transitional National Legislative Assembly Jemma Nunu Kumba on Thursday, March 23, 2023.

She says the August house requested in-kind support from the Egyptian Embassy in Juba.

This comes as the lawmakers are expected to resume sitting on Monday, March 27, 2023.

According to Nunu, the city’s power is limited, and the donation is to ensure a constant and sustainable power supply in the national assembly.

This, she says, will enable the national legislature to do its work uninterrupted.

“We initiated this project in order to ensure that there is a constant and sustainable power supply to the national assembly so that the work of the national assembly is not interrupted,” Hon Nunu told Journalists during the handover of the generator.

“We had requested our partners from the embassy to make this donation and am very happy that they responded positively and brought the generator which has a capacity of 1 Mega Watts which is 1,000 Kelvin”.

For his part, Moatez Mostafa Abdelkader, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Juba says his government does not hesitate to support South Sudan anytime.

“We cannot hesitate one minute to support and to help at any time despite the economic crisis all over the world, we cannot hesitate one minute to support and help South Sudan,” said Ambassador Moatez Mostafa Abdelkader.
